A glass ceiling

Meaning:
  • It's an imaginary barrier that keeps women from getting a better position in a company.


 Example sentence:

I love the job and the people but I feel there is a glass ceiling for me in the company, which I can't change.



Questions for you to answer:

  1. Have you ever felt there was a glass ceiling where you worked?
  2. Do you think men still have a better position in the society?
  3. When something is made from glass, it's possible to break it. Do you know women who've managed to break a glass ceiling?
